Kick-start your September
A change in season to give you a reason!
It’s September, schools are back, daily routines return and the transition from summer to autumn is a really prominent one. As the nights draw in and the temperature starts to drop, our lives take a change in tone - back to business!
This autumn shift is the perfect time to refocus our mind and bring attention back to our health and fitness goals. Not only allowing us to pick back up where summer left off, but to fight off the approaching winter blues and boost the immune system ahead of the colder months.
So, what is our advice to you when it comes to finding the motivation to get back to it?
Reset your routine:
One of the simplest and most effective ways to get started again is making a plan for yourself. Think of what you want to achieve, how you’re going to achieve it and turn that into monthly, weekly, and daily routine.
Not only will this allow you to clearly understand what you have to do to reach your goals, it will keep you on track and accountable. Remember, deviating from the plan does not = failure! Just start where you left off and keep on truckin’!
Motivate the mind:
Influencing your mind is perhaps the biggest task when it comes to encouraging yourself. We recommend starting out with achievable goals so that you aren’t putting too much pressure on yourself. Start small and take some time to think about how good ticking off your goals and exercise in general makes you feel. This should be enough to keep you going, regardless of the weather!

Balance the body:
Many people start their fitness journeys strong but give up quickly. If you want to keep momentum, do the exercises your body loves; hate cardio? Don’t do it. Make your routine as enjoyable as possible and remember that rewarding your body for small achievements is key to long-term success. Visit the health suite or treat yourself to a massage if you’ve stayed on track after a certain time. Showing gratitude for wins both big and small will encourage your body to associate positive moments with the completion of hard ones – avoiding the feeling of restriction and keeping you on track.
Don’t forget about sleep! If you feel like you aren’t recovering properly, take a look at our article outlining the importance of sleep hygiene and how it might be having a bigger impact than you think.
Satiate the soul:
If our soul isn’t in it, we won’t show up, enjoy, or reap the benefits of our workouts to their full capacity. Something we mention time and time again is the power of relationships on our workouts. Find a partner – friend, family member or someone you just met in a class and try to make exercising together a commonality. Humans are sociable beings, and we react positively when we do things together… not convinced? Sign up to one of our group classes or activities and feel your soul beaming once you leave.
