Introducing Running Places at Wokingham Leisure Centre
Running places is our new weekly outdoor running group for all abilities, which offers 5km and 3km routes starting & ending at Wokingham Leisure Centre. These sessions are led by the Places Leisure team and offer a safe space for individuals aged 16+ to build their confidence and fitness levels.
Running Places Women Only sessions – funded by My Journey
When: Tuesdays 9.30am - 10.30am.
Running Places Mixed Gender sessions
When: Wednesdays 7.30am - 8.30am
Routes: All routes start and finish at Wokingham Leisure Centre, with the option to take part in 3km or 5km distances.
Price: Free for members and non-members
Participants can also access a discount on refreshments at the Wokingham Leisure Centre Café after the session

Please note although this activity is free, our non-attendance and late cancellation policy applies
Our women-only sessions have been kindly funded by My Journey, a borough-wide active and sustainable travel campaign that aims to inspire Wokingham residents to travel by alternative modes, including walking, running & cycling
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be able to run 3k or 5k?
Running Places provides a safe and supportive atmosphere for all abilities and fitness levels, but you should be able to jog 3km-5km at a pace comfortable for you within 60 minutes
Does the route include busy roads?
Whilst some sections will take place along stretches of road, we have carefully selected our routes to minimise risks to participants. Run leaders will also carry first aid kits in an emergency
Where do I sign-in?
The meeting point for the sessions will be at the benches near the entrance of Wokingham Leisure Centre
Will sessions be outdoors all year round?
Running Places will be delivered outdoors all year round. If adverse weather conditions are deemed a risk to participant safety, sessions will be cancelled, and participants will be notified
Will the women-only group be delivered by female instructors?
We cannot guarantee that our women-only groups will be led by female members of staff each week, but we always aim to provide a safe and supportive environment to ensure everyone feels comfortable when taking part
Can I bring my dog?
Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs to take part in the sessions for safety reasons
Can I bring a pushchair or buggy?
Unfortunately, we do not allow participants to bring pushchairs or buggies due to safety reasons
Can I listen to my own music whilst running?
To keep everyone as safe as possible we request that you do not listen to your own music or use headphones whilst running
How do I redeem my discount on refreshments?
To redeem your discount, show the member of staff proof of your booking through the Places Leisure App
Can I take part if I have additional needs or a disability?
